The Pursuit

Six months ago I walked into the Alchemy 365 studio in Uptown because a coworker said “a new gym” opened up nearby. I had no idea what I was getting into, but I went in and attended my first workout. It changed my life. I loved it instantly. The energy and physical challenge was great. I could push myself and was truly proud of what I had done after 40 minutes.

During my free week I asked a friend familiar with Alchemy 365 if I should join. She said it’s a great workout and that “It will change your body.” It has. In six months I’ve lost 30 lbs and multiple inches from my waist. My arms are back, bigger, and more toned. My clothes fit differently – in a good way. My family, friends, and coworkers have all commented on how I look. I’m still fighting my “dad bod,” but I’m confident in my skin for the first time in years.

I wasn’t looking for a massive change. I wasn’t looking for a new group of friends. I wasn’t looking for anything specific. I was already a member at another fitness studio and liked it well enough. I was just looking for a convenient workout. I’ve gotten all of that and so much more.

During my first workout the Coach had “PYL” on her shirt. Someone else had it on their pants. I was seeing it everywhere. I even went home and Googled it. I think I’m starting to understand now.

Pursue Your Legend (PYL) is not a yoga move. It’s not a scientific study about how to breakdown fat in the body. It’s not a fad diet. It’s a way of life. It’s about encouraging you to be the best you can be. You have to pursue it yourself. You have to push and along the way you’ll be stronger, faster, and happier. I promise – I am.

I don’t know if I will ever find my legend, but I’m loving the pursuit.
