PYL Series: Red Ribbon Ride Edition

PYL. Pursuing Your Legend. It’s something we talk about all the time here at Alchemy. Your pursuit can come in all different shapes and sizes, and sometimes you can spend months and years trying to accomplish them while others could be decisions you make in everyday life. And yet other times you might not even know there is something out there you’re wanting to pursue until it smacks you over the head.

Sometimes I forget how fortunate I am to be surrounded by this amazing community of people at Alchemy who are kicking ass at life outside the studio doors. These people can help you realize that there is so much more within yourself waiting to be tapped.
Enter Jill MacPhail. Enter Red Ribbon Ride. Enter Team Alchemy. Enter my next legend.
Never once have I considered myself a “cyclist.” I’ve been a casual bike commuter for years and have done “endurance things” like Ragnar Relays and marathons before but a large biking event has never been on my radar. Until this week.

So this is it. I’m signing up. I’m taking the dive, jumping in and giving it my all. Do I have a slick road bike? No. Have I mastered clip in shoes? Terrifying. Do I own a pair of padded bike shorts? ABSOLUTELY NO….looking for recommendations though.

What I do know is that above all else, Team Alchemy and the crew that is already a part of this ride will make this a summer for the books. Not to mention the amazing reason behind this crazy 4 day bike journey – to raise vital funds for HIV/AIDS services, treatment, prevention and awareness right here in Minnesota.

Want in? Shoot me an email – the more the merrier, I promise – this ride (not race) is for all levels… which means rest stops with snacks (okay, YES PLEASE) and water every 15 miles or so.

Jalisa Goetz is a general manager at Alchemy Northeast. In her spare time she enjoys a good IPA and game of cribbage, exploring new restaurants and face timing her two adorable nieces.
