Alchemy Runs

by Andrea Jones

Saying Yes! Taking a calculated risk. Going for IT. Just writing these words make my heart beat a little faster, my belly flip-flop in a tangle of nerves and excitement.  No, I didn’t accept a marriage proposal, accept ownership of a new house, or venture into the choppy sea of entrepreneurship. I signed up for a race. A 26.2 mile race that on impulse, I could have easily said, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!,” but instead gulp, I went for it.  Now what? My options: find other people that are training for a race so we can talk about running, make any sucker I know run with me, or both. Finding others to share your life experiences is everything.

Enter #AlchemyRuns. The running crew is strong and each week we will feature and entice more of you to join us.  Clearly, I have an agenda but take it from seasoned runners, Jackie and Molly:

“Since finding Alchemy in 2015 we feel stronger in our running strides and are looking forward to some PRs this year in half and full marathons.

The cross training that Alchemy provides improves power, balance, and coordination to aid in more effective running. Most importantly, the added muscular and joint strength from Alchemy classes will help prevent injury in training.

We are excited to have started a run club that meets Tuesday mornings at 5:45am before the A20. All are welcome to join us. We run a comfortably-paced 3 miles, and have laughs and story time along the way.  Meet us at Alchemy North Loop to join in!”

Gunning to sign up for a race? Our friends at Mill City Running have a Race Team with some awesome perks, including 15% off their gear and guaranteed entry to the TC 10 Miler.

And lastly, use #AlchemyRuns next time time you hit the pavement.
