March MAXness

March Madness to MAXness

by Tyler Quinn

You’ve probably heard of March Madness: the term commonly used to describe the NCAA Basketball tournament, which goes on endlessly and which causes millions of people to fill out brackets, and which almost always includes the University of Wisconsin late into the tournament. One characteristic of basketball games during March Madness is that the final minute of each game takes 10-20 minutes to elapse due to the rules and strategy of basketball – replays, timeouts, overtimes, will it ever end?

We’ve put our own little spin on said term – March MAXness. The one and only, going on six years strong, with a slight change for 2021. For every workout during the month of March, the beginning and final 60-seconds of each workout will be a single modality sprint; one movement, as many reps as possible. Consider it our way of testing you physically and mentally, just like the Big Dance, every single time you come into the gym. How many reps CAN you do when you’re fresh, and just how many reps CAN you get done when you’re exhausted at the end of a workout? We know, as Alchemists, you love to push yourself. That final 60-seconds? It will feel like the longest of the entire workout. Can you take it all the way to the end and get that ‘W’?

Even better still, as athletes you will get the chance to repeat each week and test your limits, should you feel the urge to try. Each day of the week will have a consistent movement:
